Discussions Will Focus on Bridging the Logistics and Sustainment Gap in the Region
WASHINGTON, D.C., May 1, 2024 — The International Stability Operations Association (ISOA) will hold its next major conference on May 16 & 17 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Defense, USAID, the U.S. Department of State, and industry will participate in discussions highlighting the role of public/private partnerships in effectively overcoming the challenges of logistics and sustainment in the vast Indo-Pacific Region.
As tensions in the Indo-Pacific have continued to simmer over the past several months, ISOA has led a series of focused discussions with industry and U.S. Government exploring how bridging the logistics and sustainment gap with our allies and partners will be a critical deterrent to conflict in the region. These discussions have focused on innovative approaches to logistics, infrastructure, and energy. The crucial role of public/private partnerships has emerged as an important theme in these discussions.
“The so-called ‘tyranny of time and distance’ is a critical challenge to overcome in this enormous region,” said ISOA President and Executive Director Howard R. Lind. “Leveraging the power and ingenuity of the private sector to close the logistics and sustainment gap will be an important aspect of deterrence, and ISOA companies need to be fully up to date on the issues and opportunities.”
The following keynote and featured speakers have been announced:
- LTG James B. Jarrard, Deputy Commanding General for the U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC)
- MG Jered Helwig, Commander, 8th Theater Sustainment Command
- Matthew Steinhelfer, AUKUS
Registration for the ISOA Indo-Pacific Conference is available on the ISOA website until May 15. ISOA members and non-members are encouraged to attend.
Other upcoming ISOA events include the ISOA Global Achievement Awards Gala on June 20 and the ISOA Ukraine Conference in Warsaw, Poland on September 10-12. Webinars on Ukraine and Eastern Europe, USAID, China and the Indo-Pacific region, and Women, Peace, and Security trainings are also planned, along with regular networking receptions, advocacy meetings, and small business forums.
