Cody Zilhaver

Cody Zilhaver is the Director of Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Europe.
Mr. Zilhaver served a 27 year career in the US Army culminating at the rank of Colonel (COL). He is a distinguished military graduate from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and was commissioned through the Army ROTC program in 1994. Prior to commissioning, he enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard as an Infantryman in 1989. His key assignments include Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Commander of Bravo Battery 5-7 Air Defense Artillery (PATRIOT) at Hanau, Germany and OPERATION DESERT FALCON; Commander, Charlie Detachment 39th Finance Battalion at Giessen, Germany; Course Director, Finance Officer Basic and Captains’ Career Courses at Fort Jackson, SC; Brigade S3, 266th Finance Command at Heidelberg, Germany and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM; Chief, Financial Management Plans and Policy Branch J8 in United States Central Command at MacDill AFB, FL; Commander, 16th Special Troops Battalion and Commander, 16th Sustainment Brigade (Rear / Provisional) at Bamberg and subsequently Baumholder, Germany; Commander, Sustainment Task Force 16 at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, Romania; Executive Officer and Deputy G8 in U.S. Army Central Command at Shaw AFB, SC; Director, Capabilities Development and Integration Directorate in the Soldier Support Institute at Fort Jackson, SC; and Commander, 1st Brigade, US Army Cadet Command at Fort Knox, KY. After retirement from the US Army, he worked for the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina as the Director, of Military Engagement.
Mr. Zilhaver earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s Degree in Finance from Webster University, a Master’s Degree in National Security & Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the Air War College. He is a Certified Defense Financial Manager and Certified Government Financial Manager. His military education includes the Air War College, Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JPME II), Naval College of Command and Staff, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Finance Captains’ Career Course, Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic Course, and the Northern Warfare Course. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with silver oak leaf cluster), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with bronze oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award (with two oak leaf clusters), Meritorious Unit Citation (with one oak leaf cluster), Army Superior Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal (with one device), Armed Forces Expeditionary Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (with one campaign star), Iraqi Campaign Medal (with one campaign star), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (with numeral five), and the Major General Nathan Towson Medallion.
Mr. Zilhaver is married to the former Angela Rabsahl from Aschaffenburg, Germany and together they have one son, Captain Nicholas Zilhaver who is serving in the US Army at Vicenza, Italy.
